Angelina Jolie has issued a public appeal for more support for the millions of victims of Pakistan’s devastating floods.

"One-fifth of Pakistan is under water and the threat of disease now looms for 20 million affected people," the Oscar-winning actress and UNHCR goodwill ambassador explained.

"This is not just a humanitarian crisis; it is an economic and social catastrophe. UNHCR is on the ground. The more support we can give, the greater number of tents, food, clean water and medicine will get to the people in need."

The 35-year-old has visited the country three times since 2001 and recently made a personal donation of $100,000 to the cause, Entertainment Tonight reports.

The UN refugee agency’s global target for the operation was revised from $41 million to $120 million last week.
