Sandra Bullock: Motherhood changed my life
Sandra Bullock The actress announced she had adopted Louis, now seven months, earlier this year. She began the adoption process with her ex-husband Jesse James four years ago, and decided to go it alone after their marriage fell apart following allegations he was unfaithful.
Sandra knew her life would change when she became a mom, but was prepared for how totally it would be altered. “Louis' got the stage,” she said in an interview with NBC’s Today show. “No one understands the shift in priorities about having a child in your life that you are responsible for, until you have a child in your life. It naturally shifts. It just shifted the first day I met him. It was like he'd been there the whole time, yet everything was different.”
Sandra loves spending time with Louis, and can’t believe how much he has improved her life. He is a happy baby who likes playing with her, and even seems to understand when something exciting has happened to his mom.
“Oh, he likes to celebrate. He likes to dance and celebrate," she laughed. "You know what, I got blessed. I got lucky. He's extraordinary.”
Sandra, 46, added she was open to adopting a boy or a girl. When the news came that she was getting a son, her whole family were amazed. There aren’t many men in her family, so everyone had expected the star to give a baby girl a home.
“We don’t have any boys in our family,” she revealed. “Boy, is everyone happy about that. So he’s like the crown prince. You know, it’s nothing but girls in our family. Can you imagine how miserable our father is? I mean, every pet was female. So it was just the hierarchy that needed to be broken.”
