Michael Jackson’s two eldest children have started attending school.

Prince Michael I, 13, and 12-year-old Paris enrolled at The Buckley School in the San Fernando Valley last week and attended their first classes on Wednesday, gossip website TMZ reports. It is the first time the children have gone to school, having previously been home-schooled by a variety of tutors.

Family sources told the site Prince has been asking to go to school for months because he is keen to have a “social experience”. Paris is said to have been reluctant, but quickly changed her mind.

Michael’s youngest son Prince Michael II, known as Blanket, will continue to be educated at home because Michael’s mother Katherine, who was appointed the children’s guardian when the singer died in June 2009, reportedly believes he is too young to “venture out” into the world.

The Buckley School is a prestigious educational facility that has taught some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Matthew Perry, Alyssa Milano, Nicole Richie, Nicollette Sheridan, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.
