The movie sees stars such as Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham and Jet Li team up.
Insiders claim he wants old Rocky pals Mr T and Hulk Hogan for a sequel to the successful movie.
According to UK newspaper The Sun, a source said: "Sly has been told to get Expendables 2 underway as soon as possible. He already has a script underway and all the cast want to come back.
"But he's also working on some new recruits including his old Rocky pals Mr T, Carl Weathers and Hulk Hogan as well as Vin Diesel and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
"Even Jean-Claude Van Damme is ready to sign up after turning down Sly first time."
