Ne-Yo: I wore hats to hide my baldness
Ne-Yo The hunky R&B star is adored by women throughout the world for his gorgeous looks and silky voice, but he admits he wasn’t always very popular with the opposite sex, primarily due to a lack of confidence about his receding hairline.
The musician confessed his penchant for wearing headgear stemmed from being bullied at school, as his hair first started falling out when he was just a teenager.
“The men in my family start losing their hair really early on. My hair started receding when I was just 13,” he told more! magazine.
“High school kids can be very mean. So that was why I originally started wearing hats.”
Ne-Yo says he eventually accepted that his hair was falling out and felt confident with the way he looked, but by then his hats had become a trademark so he made the decision to keep wearing them all the time.
“Then I got super-confident with who I am, but they were already part of my look, so the hats stayed,” he added.
He went on to joke that he is forced to keep buying new headgear as he doesn’t like to be photographed by the paparazzi in the same hat twice.
“Once you’ve worn something and somebody’s taken a picture of you in it, that’s it, you can never wear it again. That’s the c**p thing about being a celebrity,” laughed the musician.
