Katy Perry left LA to write Teenage Dream
Katy Perry The actress usually enjoys the hectic pace of the US city, but decided to take a break and return to her hometown to find inspiration. Katy says Teenage Dream tackles the subject of being in love for the first time and she felt it would be easier to pen the lyrics if she spent time in the place where she grew up.
"Well, going to Santa Barbara, which isn't very far from LA, it was just like it brought me back home and it took me out of this fast-paced LA," Katy told MTV News. "Everybody climbing on top of each other to get to that next step on the ladder... sometimes LA can get exhausting.
“I wanted to call it Teenage Dream because I wrote that song in Santa Barbara and it was a really pure moment for me because that's where I'm from. And it was where I started my creative juices.”
The song went on to become the title track for the album and Katy is thrilled with her new material. She loved returning home and thinking about her teenage years as it made her realise how much she has accomplished in her life.
Katy is currently madly in love with her fiancé Russell Brand and enjoyed writing about dating and romance.
“It kind of exudes this euphoric feeling like everyone remembers what their teenage dreams were,” Katy explained. "All the girls that were on your poster walls... and I want to continue to be one of those... teenage wet dreams. It's intense being in love and being a teenager."
