Zac Efron wants Broadway film role?
Zac Efron The actor shot to fame in the High School Musical film franchise and is now believed to have his sights set on putting his singing and dancing skills to the test again. Zac has been to see award-winning musical Memphis twice in a month, sparking rumours he is hoping to play a part in a big screen version of the New York theatre production.
It is believed 22-year-old Zac is interested in the lead role of Huey Calhoun, a 1950s Memphis radio DJ.
When Zac went to see the show on Tuesday night with his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens and producer Adam Shankman, he spent time with the cast and was full of praise for all the stars, particularly the female lead Montego Glover.
"When Montego came over, Efron said, 'I just can't stay away from the show,' " a source told the New York Post.
Zac also watched the musical with his High School Musical co-star Corbin Bleu last month.
Although there are no confirmed plans to make Memphis into a movie, Justin Timberlake has also been linked to the role. Director Oliver Stone is believed to be keen to cast the singer in a film adaptation.
