Jennifer Hudson is urging the public to lose weight and raise money by joining WeightWatchers' annual charity slim.

The 28-year-old Oscar winner – who is the spokesperson for the diet firm – wants her fellow Americans to participate in the Lose For Good campaign to feed hungry children around the world.

Launched in September, WeightWatchers promises to match members’ weight loss with financial donations to organisations fighting global hunger.

In 2009, the company raised $1 million.

Hudson said: "Kids in our own country and abroad are in need of food right now, and we need to do something about it.
"As a mum, knowing that kids are going hungry breaks my heart.

"That's why I'm so happy to be involved in this campaign. You can lose weight while helping families that are in need – that's success."
