Victoria Beckham ‘terrified’ by plane scare
Victoria Beckham The singer turned fashion designer was more than an hour into a flight from London to Los Angeles when the pilot announced the plane was being forced to return to England after its fuel system developed a fault. Victoria and the other passengers then faced an anxious wait as they flew back to London.
The star told friends she spent the time thinking about her husband David and their children Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, seven, and five-year-old Cruz and wishing she was with them.
“She was flying on her own so it was a scary moment and she didn’t have anyone to turn to,” a pal told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. “She was looking forward to going home and settling down with the family so she was both shaken up and upset about not getting back to LA.
“It was an anxious time for her and her family always come first so she spent time thinking of them. It was nerve-wracking because the plane had been travelling for so long that it was more than an hour before she was back safely in Heathrow.”
Victoria and the other passengers were delayed in the UK for a while but later caught another flight to the US. British Airways have apologised for the incident, but insist no passengers were at risk.
“We would like to apologise to customers on the BA269 from London to LA for the flight’s return to Heathrow,” a spokesman for the airline said. “The aircraft experienced a minor technical fault after takeoff and the precautionary decision was taken to fly back to London.
“There was no risk to our customers, crew or the aircraft. Safety is of paramount importance to BA and would never be compromised.”
Victoria’s representatives confirmed she was on the flight but refused to comment further.
