Bradley Cooper: I Love Tanning
Bradley Cooper didn’t realise his A-Team character was vain because he was “too busy tanning”.
The Hollywood Hunk plays Templeton ‘Face’ Peck in the big screen remake of the classic 80s American television show. The film sees a group of Iraq war veterans – leader Hannibal Smith, as well as Face, B.A. Baracus and H.M. ‘Howlin’ Mad’ Murdock – try to clear their name after they are falsely convicted of a crime.
Face is often seen sunbathing topless in the movie, but Bradley insists the character isn’t self-obsessed. He believes Face just gets bored easily, so focuses his attention on body building and bronzing his skin to pass the time.
“Yeah, um, you know maybe I missed the boat I didn’t see it that way, I don’t know why,” he replied to Cover Media, when asked if he thought Face was vain. “Maybe I was too busy tanning. I didn’t really see him as that vain, I mean I guess he was but I just thought he was more bored of the prison and he liked being outdoors so he wanted to get some sun. And he was just in shape because he was a lethal A-Team member.”
Bradley added the character isn’t an “exfoliator”, who spends all his time using expensive body products to improve his skin. That said, the star did enjoy applying lotion to his elbows in one scene.
Director Joe Carnahan was quick to point out much was made of Face’s dedication to preserving his appearance. In one cut scene a number of beauty products could be seen in the cell the former army member was imprisoned in.
“Oh you mean, on the sink?” Bradley queried. “That’s true, you’re right. I don’t know what I’m talking about. I thought I was playing Hannibal.”
