Angelina Jolie's partner Brad Pitt helped the director pick his girlfriend's husband in new movie Salt.
Pitt, 46, helped the action flick's director Phillip Noyce choose August Diehl as the actor to play Jolie's on-screen partner in the film.
Noyce spoke to NBC Local Media's PopCornBix blog and said: "Brad had said what a strong actor he was. And we were looking for someone with no baggage.
"We wanted a fresh face - to keep the audience off guard."
Diehl starred alongside Pitt in Quentin Tarantino's hit movie Inglourious Basterds.
Speaking about the German actor's appearance in that film, he said: "Yes he was quite ruthless in Basterds. But if you're wearing a swastika emblem that gave you a lot of power... He's just a great actor."
