Drew Barrymore's new film in which she and on-off boyfriend Justin Long simulate phone sex took some "balls" she said.
In the upcoming flick Going the Distance, the pair are the romantic leads in a comedy about the trials of a long-distance love affair.
"You know, phone sex going awry is just a funny concept to me and I thought, 'this is going to be one of those scenes where we have to go balls out, and if it doesn't work, it's going to be editing room floor crap,'" the 35-year-old explained.
The Whip It director has also opened up about her career highs and lows, admitting: "I had a big gap in my life where I wasn't allowed to work at all because no one would hire me, which was great because I think you need that humility.
"You have to have everything taken away, or you have to have a major reality check, so that you always appreciate what you have."
The performer also confessed to not being a clothes horse because she can't fit it into her schedule.
"I never have time for shopping... I've been wearing the same f**king pair of jeans for 10 years,” she confessed in an interview with Nylon.
