Singer Carrie Underwood Marries In Top-Security Ceremony
Carrie Underwood The American Idol winner, 27, and Mike Fisher, 30, tied the knot at The Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia, on Saturday evening.
Security was extremely tight for the ceremony, with the couple booking out the entire hotel and police on the roads outside.
Cowell and his American Idol sparring partners Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson were understood to be on the list of about 250 guests.
Anyone not wearing a wedding party wristband was told to leave the complex, according to US reports.
The couple exchanged vows under a tent in what their wedding planner told People.com was “a spiritual expression of their love”.
The ceremony featured classical music and the couple’s favourite Bible readings.
The newlyweds told People in a statement signed “Mike and Carrie Fisher”: “We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!”
Carrie wore a Chantilly lace dress created for her by Monique Lhuillier, who also designed the bridesmaids’ dresses.
The couple got engaged on December 20 last year after quietly dating for about a year.
