Catherine Zeta-Jones Makes 'Disjointed' Speech
Catherine Zeta Jones The Welsh-born actress - who won a Tony award for her role - ended her run in A Little Night Music last week after missing several performances.
And after her final appearance on stage, she said thanks to the cast and crew.
The New York Post's respected theatre critic Michael Riedel reports: "She gave a curtain speech at the final performance, which was a little - what shall we say? - disjointed. I'm told she was an emotional wreck, which must have been why she was slurring some of her words.
"(She is not, it must be said, the world's most eloquent public speaker.)" Bernadette Peters has since replaced the 40-year-old as Desiree in the play.
Jones missed several shows towards the end of her run after she fell sick with a virus.
A source said: "[She] could be all over the place. Things are much calmer with Bernadette." Riedel reports: "The last few weeks of [her] run were erratic."
It comes as mum-of-two Zeta-Jones turned out to support husband Michael Douglas as he played golf in the JP McManus Pro-Am Tournament in Ireland.
A representative for the star was unavailable for comment.
