James Franco: Julia Was Shy About Love Scenes
James Franco The Hollywood stars appear in new film Eat Pray Love, about a woman who goes on a round-the-world trip after getting divorced. James was thrilled to team up with Julia for the project, but was amazed when he realised how bashful she is. His character David is romantically involved with Julia’s Elizabeth, but she was wary about shooting any love scenes.
“She is extremely shy when it comes to any kind of romantic scene, so I felt like, ‘Oh, I guess I'm the more experienced one,’" he explained. "She didn't even want to do the kissing scenes, but I said 'Look, I think the movie would be served by a kiss in the scene,' so I pressed forward and got it!”
Despite her reluctance to lock lips, Julia and James got on well on set and he would not hesitate to work with her again.
The movie is released on August 13 in America, with other countries following later in the year.
James can currently be seen appearing in US drama series General Hospital, in which he plays Franco. The part is close to his heart as it is the first time he has shared the screen with his mother Betsy, who is a new convert to acting.
“She's been a fan since I've been on it... she's supportive," he told Extra interviewer Jerry Penacoli. "She's been going to Stanford extension for acting lessons for two years now. This is her first professional gig as an actress.”
