Madonna To Start World Tour In UK

Madonna has announced that her world tour, quite stomach-churningly dubbed 'The Sticky And Sweet Tour', will begin on 23 Aug at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, followed by a second UK date at Wembley Stadium on 11 Sep.

Tickets for the two shows go on sale on 16 May, with prices ranging between £55 and £160. I saw Madonna at Wembley Stadium in 1993 and it cost £23.50. That's inflation for you. Of course, the singer is also performing at this weekend's Radio 1 One Big Weekend, which is free. There aren't any tickets for that left, though.

And presumably pretty soon at 9am on 16 May there won't be many tickets left for the not-at-all-free Cardiff and Wembley gigs either, which is why Madonna fans who don't get in there quick enough may need to [a] mortgage their house and then [b] head over to ticket resale website Viagogo who have been announced as the "official ticket resale site" for Madonna's European tour. I assume that means that if you must resell your Madonna tickets - either because some unfortunate turn of events means you can't go, or you reckon you can get a few hundred quid off a gullible cash-rich Madonna fan by touting them some tix - then you can do it via viagogo without feeling that you have broken some bond of trust with Madge and her promoters. Viagogo will also be offering VIP packages and premium tickets for the singer's European shows.

Commenting on the Madonna deal, viagogo boss Eric Baker told CMU: "We are delighted to have been named the official premium and secondary ticket seller for Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour. This agreement further demonstrates our constant desire to innovate in the ticketing marketplace and offer unique solutions to fans. Fans will now have a safe, secure platform to buy and trade tickets for Madonna's upcoming tour".
