Coldplay have no awards competition
Coldplay The 'Charlie Brown' hitmakers scooped the Best British Group prize for the third time at last night's (20.02.12) BRIT Awards but believe it would be harder to be so successful if their contemporaries were still making chart records.
Frontman Chris Martin said: "Other bands keep taking themselves out of the game, we're the only players still on the pitch. Blur have gone, Pulp have gone, Oasis have gone. Radiohead aren't interested, they'd win it every year if they wanted to.
"Take That are on holiday, so they're not around."
After scooping 44 awards in their career to date, Chris insists there are still goals the band want to achieve - though they are less than conventional.
He joked to BANG Showbiz: "We'd love to land a big modelling campaign, that would be cool.
"And we want to open a JLS theme park."
Coldplay - which also consists of Will Champion, Guy Berryman and Jonny Buckland - previously won Best British Group in 2001 and 2003 and were also nominated for the prize in 2006 and 2009.
