Green Day have been airing a few of their new songs in recent concerts in the US.

The group, who are soon expected to release their follow up to 21st Century Breakdown, played new track Carpe Diem at a secret concert in San Francisco for the second time along with a wealth of new material that Billy Joe has been preparing for the band’s 9th album.

The track was first played along with Amy Winehouse tribute song, Amy, in the summer, but now there seems to be a lot more new songs to add to these, and despite previously indicating that they would be moving away from the “concept album” style of both 21st Century Breakdown and American Idiot, the opening of Carpe Diem does have very much the same sound musically, almost to be point of being identical to one song from their last album.

I suppose when it isn’t broke and all that.
