A sixty second advert for Bono’s One Charity has been banned in the UK for being too political. Well, it is Bono so what did they expect?

The ad, which features stars including Colin Farrell and George Clooney, promotes the cause of the U2 frontman’s charity but it has been blocked by regulator Clearcast.

“These rules ensure adverts aren’t broadcast by bodies whose objects are mainly political,” Clearcast said in a statement. “One appears to have been caught by this rule as they state that part of their raison d’etre is to pressure political leaders.”

The director of One  hit back, saying that the code is there to keep propaganda off the streets but, their purpose is actually to highlight the plight of people in East Africa who could die before the end of the year.
