INXS take unexpected rain check
INXS Fans at Pocono Downs casino, Pennsylvania, were left disappointed when a freak rainstorm brought an abrupt end to an INXS gig.
The Australian band, having already wowed the crowd with 4 of their classic hits, were starting what was looking to be a promising gig, when the weather took a turn for the worst.
Reports say that strong winds battered the stage, and directed heavy rain straight towards where the band were performing, causing technical difficulties and forcing the band to literally take a rain check. The sound board was unable to be used as it was soaked right through, causing the wiring inside to short out.
Awarded “Best International Group” at the Brit Awards in 1991, INXS made it up to their fans by signing autographs after the sound board went down. Some hopefuls hung around for longer than others, fingers crossed that the problem could be rectified, although it soon became apparent that the show was well and truly over. There are no plans to reschedule the gig.
Someone speaking on behalf of Mohegan Sun, at Pocono Downs casino apologised on behalf of the band and the venue: “Unfortunately, the band's sound board shorted out, and INXS was forced to cancel the rest of the show. The band members felt bad and were very cordial to audience members that stayed around hoping for the best."
