The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has revealed the hit US band used to play at transvestite bars.

The singer recently performed at the T In The Park festival with the band and he was asked where the strangest place was that they've performed.

He said to NME: "In the early days [of the band] it was notorious that The Killers played at transvestite bars."

Flowers had been working on his own solo work before reuniting with the band.

Speaking about the differences between being a solo act and part of a band, he said: "The Killers are always my band, and it's what I would prefer to be doing.

"We've made an impact, so that's the outlet to do something. We want to do great things."
