The reformed rockers had the perfect comeback gig on the Main Stage at the festival on Friday night.

It’s just the start to their comeback the Darkness would have killed for, but as it is they were given it on a plate as they took the Download festival by storm on Friday.

The reformed rock band made an emotional return to live performing on the Main Stage in front of the 70,000 strong Donnington Park crowd. Justin Hawkins called the performance  the “best night of his life” and said that he couldn’t have imagined The Darkness’ return would feel so good.

A different story to the jitters Hawkins claimed the band were suffering prior to what was without doubt one of the biggest and most important shows of their career.

The Darkness are preparing for a Winter Tour of the UK in which they will showcase some of the material from their upcoming album which is expected next year.
