John Lydon suffering from speech impediment
John Lydon The Sex Pistols singer – given the nickname Johnny Rotten during his mid to late 1970s prime due to his rotting gnashers – is now suffering the consequences of years of poor care and has recently endured a succession of oral hygiene troubles.
The 55-year-old Londoner has suffered from an aching double abscess as well as numerous gum infections – and now several stitches inside his mouth after surgery have given him speech troubles.
John spoke to English local newspaper The Sheffield Star, saying that he’s “not a vegetarian” because he is “smart enough to realise I’ve got two sets of teeth in my mouth and I want to use both”.
However, he pointed out that he has “very few real teeth left” as that was “something my parents didn’t pass on to” him, although he did add that they “passed many good things on” – just that “dental health wasn’t one of them”.
John also stated that he has to continually have his teeth fixed, but “they keep getting infections”, while his double abscess required him to have “eight stitches in the front of my mouth so my top lip is sewn over the top gum”, resulting in the God Save The Queen hitmaker “ talking a little strange”.
Additionally, he said that “every time” he laughs “the stitches pull”.
