Chris Wolstenholme to write Muse tracks?
Muse Muse bass player Chris Wolstenholme is keen to supply some tracks for the English rock band’s next album – but is worried as he doesn’t want any of his songs to “be responsible for the demise of the band”.
Every song on the Supermassive Black Hole rockers’ five albums have been penned by guitarist and vocalist Matt Bellamy and, although feeling slightly intimidated, Chris hopes some of his ideas can be included on their next release.
However, while the 32-year-old reckons Matt has “raised the bar quite high in terms of songwriting”, Chris also believes that there’s “maybe” a chance he’ll get a few tracks included on the band’s future albums.
Chris, who writes “quite a bit”, added that, “if there’s stuff that’s good enough, it would always be considered” for inclusion, although he is “a bit nervous, really” as he doesn’t want to “write a sing and it be responsible for the demise of the band”.
It’s easy to understand why Chris is nervous as Muse’s last three albums – Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations, and The Resistance – have all hit the No.1 spot in the British charts, as well as gaining huge sales across the globe.
The Devon band – which also includes drummer Dominic Howard – have not yet started work on their follow-up to 2009 release The Resistance, but Chris assured fans that the power trio have numerous ideas and any recording will now be much easier than before as all three members are living close by.
Chris, who also contributes keyboards and guitars to Muse’s output, said that each member has “lots of ideas”, but added that “we’ve not got together as a band yet to actually put an album together”.
However, as “we’re all kind of living in London now”, he points out that “the plan is to do the album” in the British capital city as “it will be the first time in 12 years that we’ve all been in the same place!”
Muse – whose last album was also a No.3 hit in the USA – previously recorded in America and Italy, as well their home county of Devon in south-west England.
