The family of Jimi Hendrix, known as the Hendrix Estate, has filed a lawsuit about his live recordings being used. According to TMZ, they will take legal action over the rights to the soundtrack of the recordings.

The recordings from The Royal Albert Hall were made 42 years ago and according to the lawsuit Jimi signed an agreement to use the music as part of a film, however with Jimi’s demise the filmed wasn’t made.

Ever since Jimi’s death the Hendrix estate claimed they are the rightful owners and they have been battling over the legal rights with an un-named company.

The Hendrix Estate is calling for ownership of the recordings as the rightful owners and are requesting over $2 million (£1.5 million) in legal costs and other expenses.
