Mika - Grace Kelly
Release Date: 29th Jan 2007
Label: IslandReviewed by: Pennie Varvarides
Rating: 7/10
Grace Kelly is a pretty bold debut single by a pop artist on a major label and for that I am sure it will gather an array of fans. Before I heard anything by them I already had several friends telling me I had to listen to them and that they were amazing – so I did. Turns out this single flew to the top of the pop singles charts in the UK so it clearly has a following.
This new Lebanese born singer defiantly has something special going on with a hint of Queen with a Freddy Mercury quality to his voice.
At times it feels a little forced but nonetheless Grace Kelly is very perky – reminding me a little of Scissor Sisters who are obviously awesome!
Its bound to put a smile on your face in this incredibly infectious song – in fact I have been listening to it on repeat whilst trying to right the review and like it more now than I did when I first started writing even moving the rating from a 6 to a 7 – so clearly it’s a song that grows on you.
Imagine Scissor Sisters and Freddie Mercury in a mixing pot with a rainbow and a lot of gold and that will give you an idea of Mika and his debut Grace Kelly!
