Robbie Williams Signs On To Featured Artists Coalition

Robbie Williams is reported to have signed on to the Featured Artists’ Coalition, a group of artists who are taking action to gain ownership and control of their work. Williams is kidding, right?

Robbie Williams ‘sold his soul to the devil’ and now he wants it back?

What a joke this is. Williams pocketed £80 million in 2002 giving his label EMI rights to all of his revenue streams, and thus creating one of the first of (what is now known as) the 360 deal.

Under a 360 deal, artist’s revenues from touring, merchandising, sponsorships and music are all recoupable back to the parent company. (In his case EMI).

Williams took the cheque and now he is screaming out for his rights? EMI should tell him to go stick his head up a dead bear’s bum.

Yes, there are real issues for artists with rights and ownership of their work, and I am sure that the Featured Artists Coalition has its heart in the right place, but to have Robbie Williams as part of the group is a joke.

The Verve, Radiohead and Kaiser Chiefs are within the fold. They deserve to be. Their deals are very different to the lottery win Williams scored.

How can anyway sell themselves for £80 million and then demand their rights have been violated.

Fuck off Robbie, you made your choice long ago. Don’t spoil it for the others by pretending you were wrong done by now. Piss off and go and play with your UFOs.
