Police in Norfolk are investigating a complaint about a photograph of Madonna hanging in an art gallery in Norwich.
The picture, part of an exhibit featuring the works of photographer Dave Hogan, depicts the singer posing on a cross and wearing a crown of thorns. A police spokesman said: "We are currently in the process of establishing the facts. In such circumstances we would always try and reach a solution which both upholds the principles of freedom of artistic expression and also prevent any offence being caused."A similar investigation had to be launched last year, when the gallery displayed an 'artwork' consisting of a banana arranged with two eggs. On that occasion, the display was re-arranged so that the offending groceries could not be seen by passers-by.
