It's A Record For Haiti Charity Single
Simon Cowell's Haiti fundraiser, 'Everybody Hurts', has become the fastest-selling single of the century.
The Official Charts Company today confirmed that 200,000 copies of the track have been sold since Sunday.
"This is a phenomenal achievement. The public are certainly not showing any signs of charity fatigue," said spokesman Martin Talbot.
The single is currently comfortably on course to bring Owl City's reign at the top of the British charts with 'Fireflies' to an end on Sunday.
Cheryl Cole, Susan Boyle, Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams, JLS, Take That and James Blunt are amongst the vocalists to contribute to the REM cover.
All proceeds will go to The Sun's Helping Haiti fund and the official Disasters Emergency Committee.
