Leona Lewis is “proud” to have been involved in charity single Everybody Hurts.

Music mogul Simon Cowell arranged for a host of stars to record a cover version of the REM track in aid of the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Leona was among those to take part, and has revealed it had a huge effect on her.

“I’m so proud to be involved. I found recording it quite upsetting, but I feel very hopeful about the good it will bring and hope that people get behind it and support it,” she told British newspaper The Daily Mail.

Mariah Carey, Take That, Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart, Michael Buble, Cheryl Cole and Alexandra Burke were some of the other singers who recorded vocals for the track. All proceeds will go to help those affected by the natural disaster, which hit the Caribbean island last month.

Leona shot to fame after winning UK singing contest The X Factor in 2006. She initially found her overnight success hard to handle, but says she has finally started to accept how her life has changed. The 24-year-old is grateful for the opportunities her new lifestyle has given her, especially the amount of travel she now does.

“At first I was swept up in it; it was all a bit, ‘Wooh!’ A big rush. Now, I feel like I have more of a grasp on it. More control. I’m just trying to make the most of every opportunity. I don’t feel as bewildered by it all now,” she said. “I just got in from Canada. Then tomorrow, in the morning, I fly to Monaco. That night, I fly to Germany. So much travelling. I love it. To see things I never thought I would.”

Hi just wanted to say a little something :)

love the song, love the CD! I think that all the people who helped this song and CD become a hit for the HAITI disaster should recieve a great big thanks!! everyones help into creating a way for england (as a country) to give something to those have nothing.

i enjoy most of the singers voices especially Leona lewis, Cheryl cole and JLS. they are all magnificient singers and together they created a meaningful video to break the hearts of the country, so people understand what how much we are privileged to have all that we have.

but i am sad to hear that only £1 of the price of the CD which is £4 is only going to Haiti. it should at least be £2. the manufacturers should stop being so greedy.

but any way WELLDONE GUYS!! WOOOO!!
