Joe McElderry is Ladbrokes bookies' favourite to become the Christmas Number One single in the UK, ahead of Rage Against The Machine.

New odds put The X Factor winner's 'The Climb' in the front running at 2/7, with Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name' at 9/4.

Earlier frontman Zach De La Rocha and the band played the song - including the swear-filled chorus - live on UK radio and slammed The X Factor and Simon Cowell.

Simon Cowell has slammed the campaign, calling it "stupid", "cynical" and "very Scrooge".

Look at what you just wrote.....you are asking people to buy Rage just as some part of a campaign...so don't talk about people with no capacity to form their own musical taste...you are asking people to follow your's and this silly capaign's, and not asking people to follow their own individual taste, which may not include Joe or Rage. Also cursing with emotion is a very easy thing to do, writing songs with cheap, tacky vulgar language is also very easy...and not much 'writing' was involved in Rage's offering.....why not make Christmas interesting and buy a record you like, not one the Rage are begging you to buy promising free concerts....pathetic! And then you think you are being some sort of rebel.... truely without a cause!

Get a grip all you musical delinquents with no taste and no capacity to form your own musical tastes.

You just swallow down the X factor's bile like its some sort of Christmas pudding.

Wrap your lips around some proper music WRITTEN and performed with emotion. The X factor is nothing more than a glorified karaoke which is strategically broadcast at this time of year to monopolise the Christmas number one slot.

Give it a year, even six months and you won't even rememeber who Joe McElderry is. Rage however, will be a band that will continue to be recognised and loved for decades to come.

And as far as a US number one for the UK... *Ahem* Miley Cyrus! Don't even get me started.

Get a grip. Get some rage.
Lets make Christmas No. 1 interesting again!

Last time I checked Miley Cyrus wasn't singing the version released in the UK for Christmas Joe was.....If people don't like this song, then don't buy it, simple, but buying this other song just so this young guy isn't number one is just pathetic....people aren't taking a stand, they are following an internet campaign like little sheep. baa baa baa:) And as for this "stand" described above as "we are not doing what people tell us"....well actually the internet capaign is telling you what to do and you are doing it....again like little sheep!! I'm not buying either because I "choose" what music I want, not what a facebook group dictates.....that is more pathetic than the X-factor! You guys are such rebellious.....sheep!

"Do we want an American Number One in the UK for Christmas ...definitely NOT! Hasn't the US colonised our music charts enough?..!"

The song was originally sung by Miley Cyrus, and last I checked she's an American.

RATM would be proud of you're statement "make a stand" (although you are contradicting yourself) what they sing is exactly what people buying the single are trying to say "we wont do what you tell us". I'm buying.

Rage are talented and write meaningful songs???.....em, maybe you should check the lyrics out, any scallywag could write that, and a horse could sing it better!:) Joe may not have written his song but at least he can sing it and in a recession.....BUY BRITISH!!:) I don't want to hear an old guy roaring his head off over Christmas.....and think it's cool! "Make a stand", don't be bullied by Rage and think you are making a conscious decision yourself!!!

Don't want an american number 1? What does where they come from have to do with anything?

Buy RAGE because they work hard, write their own songs, play music with real emotion that actually MEANS something and because it's the better song!

I don't want to be listening to the same crappy cover songs sung by people who don't give a damn about anything but "being famous" for the rest of my life.

MAKE A STAND!
