Emma Bunton has revealed The Spice Girls are to star in a new movie.

Even though 1997 movie Spice World was poorly received by critics, the band – Emma, Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Mel C and Geri Halliwell – are planning to appear in a sequel. They will work with Judy Cramer, whose previous credits include Mamma Mia! Judy is also involved in The Spice Girls’ plans for a West End musical.

The new musical movie is expected to be called Viva Forever and will feature a host of the group’s biggest hits, including Wannabe, 2 Become 1 and Who Do You Think You Are?

Emma says the group can’t wait to start shooting the film and are currently brainstorming ideas for the script. She also revealed they had planned to star in a follow-up to Spice World soon after the movie was released, but they had to scrap the plans after Geri left the band in 1998.

“Now we're all involved in the new Spice Girls film, which is being done by Judy Craymer and the team behind Mamma Mia!” Emma told Celebs on Sunday magazine. “We email each other ideas and we are overjoyed it's happening. We would've liked to do another film, but after Spice World, there was an album, then a tour and then Geri left, so it didn't happen.“

The Spice Girls’ theatre musical, called Viva Forever, is scheduled to open in London in November.
