Simon Cowell to leave X Factor?
Simon Cowell
With the 2010 series of X Factor now fully underway we have already seen drama involving Cheryl falling ill with malaria, auto tune changing contestants voices and then - delete now to add to the drama Simon Cowell has claimed in a recent interview with a tabloid paper that this will be his last X Factor series in the UK!
If the statements from Simon do turn out to be true, he has said that after this series he will then be focusing on one X Factor style reality TV show and it will not be in the UK. It is still unconfirmed from Simon whether that means that he will not be part of the 2011 Britain’s Got Talent but the message was clear that this is his last X Factor in the UK! The show that Simon has chosen to work solely on is the American television channel Fox’s version of the X factor that starts in the fall of 2011.
Simon has as- delete always stated in previous years that he would continue to make the X Factor as long as it was still popular and the minute it started to loose – lose viewers then he would stop the show. When the first show of this series went out on the 21st August it received a record number of viewers for an opening show. Over 11 million viewers tuned in to watch the show start for 2010 which is a massive achievement for the show! This figure questions whether Simon will keep his word on never returning to X Factor as he hasn’t stayed true to former statements?
Every week since the show has started X Factor has made the headlines of the papers, whether it has been to reveal the “truth” about a contestants health issues or simply to talk around acts that appear on the show. All press is good press? When negative stories emerged regarding auto tune on the contestants voices, has it damaged the show’s reputation enough to cause Simon to say enough?
As a big fan of X Factor I was sad myself to hear the allegations. It has been massive blow to X factor’s credibility and even though the choice to auto tune before the show went live to tweak and make better for the audience at home has been defended by the show, it has seriously damaged the show’s reputation.
After such a massive attack towards X Factor and X Factor betting in general, the viewing figures for the rest of the auditions that have followed have not been revealed publicly. Has the effect of a public trial on whether X Factor were wrong or right to change voices before it was aired to the public damaged the series that much? This could now be the source of Simon’s recent decision to back out of X Factor 2011?
