Adele has continued to make this her year after topping off six Grammy wins and a handful of BRIT awards by having a 21st non-consecutive week at the top of the Billboard chart.

This means that Adele’s “21” has beaten Whitney Houston’s record, which saw The Bodyguard at the top of the US album charts for 20 weeks back in 1992.

The singer may still be a long way behind the ultimate record, held by the sound-track to West Side Story, but she has shifted an impressive 730,000 just in the last week after her Grammy’s appearance to give her yet another week on top.

Adele won Best British Album and Best Female Solo Artist at the BRIT awards last night, but was brought back down to earth when she was cut off in mid-acceptance speech by James Corden because Blur were waiting to perform.
