What a difference a day makes.

Yesterday the headlines were full of praise for Lana Del Rey and her fastest selling debut album of the year. Now the same Lana Del Rey is the subject of ridicule after putting in a poor live performance on Saturday Night Live.

The singer has now cancelled her upcoming thirty night tour based purely on the completely lifeless if strangely compelling performance on the US show.

A report in the New York Post read, “(Lana) and her manager decided to cancel (the tour) after SNL. She was very upset. They figure it allows time for her to clear her head, then go back to selling tickets. More importantly, they figure the extra time gives them more distance from SNL.”

There is no doubt that Del Rey’s bizarre singing style will always appeal to some, in the same way Florence and The Machine and Kate Bush have, but perhaps she needs to have a big think before taking a show out on the road.
