The Troggs singer calls time on the band to battle cancer
Reg Presley Reg Presley, best known as the lead singer of The Troggs, has announced to fans that he is calling time on the group as he is battling lung cancer.
The singer was forced to pull out of a concert in Germany at the end of last year and after being admitted to hospital he was diagnosed with the disease.
On his website, the Wild Thing singer said, “I am receiving chemotherapy treatment and at the moment not feeling too bad. However I’ve had to call time on The Troggs and retire.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the cards and calls and for your love, loyalty and support over the years.”
As well as having a huge hit with Wild Thing in the 60s, The Troggs also recorded the original version of Love is All Around, which was covered by Wet Wet Wet in the 90s and featured in Four Weddings and A Funeral.
