Marcus Collins to cover The White Stripes

X factor runner-up to release Seven Nation Army as first single.

Marcus Collins' first single will be a re-worked version of the 2003 White Stripes track Seven Nation Army.

According to The Sun, The White Stripes singer Jack White has given the Marcus Collins the nod to cover the single.

Collins said: "I'm a huge fan of the original Seven Nation Army and I hope people like my take on it. I'm so happy to be releasing my debut album and can't wait for everyone to hear it."

The original track reached number seven in the singles chart first time round and has been given a full makeover with Gary Barlow executive producer. The single is due to be released on March 4 with Marcus Collins' debut album released a week later.

The release follows a series of rock tracks covered by singers from The X Factor. 

Matt Cardle's first track When We Collide was a re-worked version of Biffy Clyro's Many Of Horror, while Alexandra Burke covered Leonard Cohen's Hallelujuah. Leona Lewis has also covered rock tracks, including Snow Patrol's Run and Nine Inch Nails' Hurt.
