Legendary singer Etta James, who was best known for the song At Last, has died at the age of 73.

The R&B singer has been in ill health in recent years, was diagnosed in 2010 with leukemia and had previously been diagnosed as also suffering from Hepatitis C and dementia.

The singer was said to be terminally ill by her live in doctor last month when it was discovered that the form of leukemia she suffered was incurable.

The singer died in a hospital in California.

In her career, James won six Grammy awards and was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
