Pop superstar Adele has continued her record-breaking run with her album 21 by equalling the number of weeks that the soundtrack from Titanic remained at the top ot the US  Billboard charts.

The feat has only been equalled by Billy Ray Cyrus, Whitney Houston and Garth Brooks.

Although she has a long way to go to beat the 34 week run that Michael Jackson’s Thriller managed, or the record of 54 weeks by the West Side Story soundtrack, it is a monumental achievement for the Brit and as she rides high on her success there is potential for her to continue on indefinitely.

The singer has been on a break from live performance since last year having underwent throat surgery, but is to appear at both the Grammy’s and the Brits next month.
