Bruno Mars returns to album chart summit
Bruno Mars Bruno Mars has defied predictions and returned to the top of the album chart.
The four times platinum debut Doo-Wops and Hooligans was the third highest selling album of 2011 and according to the Official Charts Company has sold an estimated 1.28 million copies.
The album debuted at number one, and twelve months later returns to the top, never dropping outside the top 20 albums last year.
Indie rockers The Maccabees had been tipped to enter the chart at number one with their third album Given To The Wild, which debuts in fourth place. After topping the chart last week, Adele's 21 drops to second spot with Ed Sheeran's + staying in third.
Given To The Wild is the Maccabees' highest charting album to date, with their 2007 debut Colour In It peaking at 24 and second album Wall Of Arms reaching 13 in 2009.
Guitarist Felix White told NME earlier this week: "With this album we got to piece the songs together by ourselves, it was kinda like a new start, that’s what I enjoyed the most, setting up the mood of a song."
