Adele really is like the rubber ball that just comes bouncing back every time.

After her massive stint at number one for the latter part of last year, her album 21 is on course to become number one again this weekend.

The midweek figures released by The Official Chart Company, the album will score a 19th non-consecutive week on the top spot, and achievement last done by Simon & Garfunkle’s Bridge Over Troubled Waters back in 1970.

Adele won six Grammy nominations from the album, as well as becoming the first woman to have two singles and two albums in the UK Top Five simultaneously.

Her success was slightly marred by a throat infection that saw her cancelling a number of tour dates while she underwent surgery for a vocal cord hemorrhage.
