After its horrendous previews and accident laden production, the musical has turned it's fortunes around.

Do you remember last year when the U2 penned Spiderman Turn Off The Dark was becoming one of the biggest jokes on the Broadway stage? What a difference a few months can make.

It now appears that after the accidents, re-writes and cast and production changes, the musical is set to become a massive Broadway hit after taking almost $3 million across nine performances at the Foxwood Theatre in Times Square – a record for the most every taken by a Broadway show in one week.

The takings were helped by some “dynamic ticket pricing” which saw prices increased over the Christmas period, but considering it’s chequered history, Spiderman Turn Off The Dark has surpassed any expectations we had last year.

The season also brought some monster takings to other Broadway shows including $1.5 million for 24 year old Phantom of The Opera and $1.9 million for the final week of Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe in How To Succeed in Business.
