Even Simon Cowell seemed to admit that the Military Wives will take the Christmas title.

Little Mix may have their number one single in the bag, but they have resigned themselves to the belief that they have no chance of getting the Christmas Number One Gareth Malone and the Military Wives releasing their festive offering.

Who can compete with a bunch of otherwise nobodies when they link it to the brave troops fighting for their country…or at least for someone’s country?

The girl group sold one of the lowest amount of singles from an X Factor winner, the worst in fact since 2004. Add in the pull of even just the thought of “Military Wives” and charity single and there isn’t any competition, something that even Simon Cowell seems to have realised.

He tweeted, “Congrats to Little Mix and Congrats to Military Wives. It’s a great cause and worthy Christmas No1.”
