The X Factor winners have sold 68,000 copies of their single so far, but this only half of what Matt Cardle sold in the same period last year.

Little Mix are set to top the charts on Sunday with their debut single Cannonball, having sold 68,000 copies as of today.

The X Factor champs look set to knock Olly Murs off the top of the chart as well as beating Rihanna and Coldplay, outselling all three artists by a long way.

But they have a gulf to fill if they are to match the opening sales of Matt Cardle last year, as he managed just under 450,000 copies in his first week after winning the show last year.

The lack of sales has meant that the Christmas number one spot is up for grabs by another artist, and The Military Wives Choir are top of the bookies list to nab the Christmas title from the four girls.
