Adele named Billboard's number one artist of 2011
Adele Adele has been named Billboard magazine's number one artist of the year, as her success in America shows no sign of slowing down.
In addition to six Grammy nominations, the 23-year old has made Billboard history becoming the first female solo artist to be named top artist, top album and top single in the same year.
Rolling In The Deep beat LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem and Katy Perry's Firework to the top single award with 21 beating Taylor Swift's Speak Now and Lady Gaga's Born This Way to the top album award.
But despite the success, Adele told Billboard how she prefers quality rather than quantity when it comes to media exposure.
The singer said: "What I like about indie artists and indie labels is they don't do everything. Obviously, the main reason for that is because they don't have the clout and don't get the chance to.
"But why does a huge artist have to do everything? Quality control is vital. If I did everything, my artistry and music would become diluted."
Elsewhere, Lil Wayne was named Billboard's top male artist list and Wiz Khalifa was best new artist.
