Robbie Williams The singer has revealed he spent a great deal of last year smoking the drug, blaming his habit for his increased waistline. He claims cannabis gave him “the munchies”, explaining he would gorge on junk food after having a joint.
“Did you see me last year? Have a look at last year. Yep. Year of the Munchies 2009,” he laughed to Radio Times magazine. “Weed, it’s such a lovely drug. But it doesn’t mix well with me at all. It doesn’t take much to trigger. I mean, I’ll get psychosis from having a cup of tea! The caffeine in that’s enough. A cup of tea will make me feel like s**t. But it’s just a shame about weed because I did love it.”
The 36-year-old checked into rehab in 2007 to be treated for a problem with prescription medication. He has been open about his battle with addiction, and has now revealed he sought help as he was terrified he was going to pass away.
“I was dying. I got to the point where I really, genuinely didn’t care,” he explained. “Yeah. I’d just got fat and depressed before. Then, this one was like, you might die, now. Cool!”
The star has now ditched wild nights out in favour of spending time at his Los Angeles home with his fiancée Ayda Field. Robbie revealed their engagement started as a joke – he decided to pop the question on an Australian radio show. However, they are now planning to marry for real, but are yet to set a date.
