The charity track topped the British singles chart last weekend, selling a record-breaking 453,000 singles in its first week in stores.

According to latest sales figures, the REM cover has now shifted another 43,000 copies and is set to stay at the top.

Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole, Mika, Joe McElderry, James Blunt, Take That, Susan Boyle and Robbie Williams are amongst the guest singers on the track.

Half the proceeds from the cover will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee and half to The Sun's Helping Haiti Appeal.
