Lilly Allen Blames Weight On Steroids

By on 11/02/2010
Lily Allen insists she has put on weight due to steroid injections, not because she’s in love.

The singer has been in a relationship with builder Sam Cooper since last year, and is blissfully happy. She has struggled with her weight in the past, but recently slimmed down and toned up. It has been reported she has put on some pounds in recent months, with sources claiming she has been enjoying cosy meals in with Sam as she settles into the relationship.

However, Lily has blasted the claims, insisting she is only larger as she has been taking medication which has made her balloon. “I actually don’t feel great right now because I’ve had laryngitis, so the only way I’ve been able to get through gigs is by having steroid injections, which have made me put on 9.5lbs. I don’t mind it, but I can tell that people are like, ‘Ooh, she’s in love so she’s put on a bit of weight.’ No! I’m ill and I’m having steroid injections,” she fumed.

Lily has been open about her struggle to control her weight in the past, once writing on her blog she was considering having liposuction as she felt so down about herself.

She managed to slim down by eating healthily and exercising, and is amazed by the effect it has had. Lily insists people treat her differently now she is slim, adding she is certain she wouldn’t have got certain opportunities if she was bigger.

“There is a reason the fashion world has embraced me: because I did lose a considerable amount of weight over the last year,” she explained to Love magazine. “The people who have got involved with me probably wouldn’t have when I was 21lbs heavier. I’ve been on shoots where it’s been, ‘Lunchtime! OK Lily, do you want a cigarette?’ Instead of lunch! I’m like, don’t make me feel guilty about the way I look.”
