Robbie Williams Met Take That This Week To Work On New Songs
Robbie Williams The singer left the band in 1996, but in recent years there has been constant speculation he will reunite with the group to record a new album. Robbie is believed to have spent more than five hours in a studio in Los Angeles discussing material with Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald on Tuesday. As they left, the five men all hugged each other.
"They're using this time in LA to start working together as a band again,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. "They were delighted with Tuesday's session and were congratulating each other as they left."
Robbie joined his bandmates for a trip to New York last September, shortly before Mark got married. It has been claimed they also spoke about a reunion album then and visited a recording studio. "In New York they threw some ideas around but didn't really push ahead with new material.
"It was Mark's stag do, so there were lots of sore heads. But they're using this LA time together to crack on with reunion songs," the source added.
A Take That spokesman has confirmed the group have been spending time with Robbie, saying: "Take That didn't go to LA with plans to officially write or record with Robbie, but they've been hanging out together, which is great."
Robbie and Take That have both lent their vocals to Simon Cowell’s charity single to raise money for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake. It is believed they will be performing the same lines after they all laid down vocals at the Henson Studios in Los Angeles.
Gary was thrilled to contribute to the track, a cover version of REM’s Everybody Hurts and didn’t hesitate in offering his support. "As soon as we heard, we were just hoping we'd be asked. It's one of those things you don't even have to think about,” he told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. "We've never done anything like this before, but music has been a great way of generating money for good causes."
Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Michael Buble, Bon Jovi, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Cheryl Cole, Susan Boyle, James Morrison, JLS and Alexandra Burke will also appear on the track.
