Katy Perry and Lady Gaga lead MTV EMA nominations
The two stars will battle it out for the prestigious Best Female prize, with Miley Cyrus, Shakira and Rihanna also featuring in the category. Eminem, Justin Bieber, Usher, Enrique Iglesias and Kanye West are up for the male version.
Gaga, Katy, Rihanna and Miley also appeared in the Best Pop section, with Usher joining them on the list.
Both the female singers are nominated in the Best Video category, Gaga for her track Telephone which also features Beyoncé Knowles and Katy for her track California Gurls. Rounding out the group are Thirty Seconds To Mars with Kings and Queens, Rihanna for her duet Love the Way You Lie with Eminem and Plan B for Prayin’.
California Gurls has also won Katy a place in the Best Song section, with Gaga’s Bad Romance also getting a mention. The women will battle with Rihanna’s Rude Boy, Usher’s OMG and Eminem and Rihanna’s Love The Way You Lie for the prize.
Gaga is up for the Best Live Act award, with Bon Jovi, Muse, Kings of Leon and Linkin Park receiving nods too.
Katy’s final nomination is in the Best World Stage Performance group, where Green Day, Muse, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Gorillaz and Tokio Hotel also appear.
Other awards set to be handed out in Madrid, Spain, on November 7 include Best Rock which will go to either Kings of Leon, Linkin Park, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Muse or Ozzy Osbourne and Best Alternative which Gorillaz, Gossip, Paramore, Vampire Weekend and Arcade Fire are all vying for.
